Our Junior Club Championship took place on Sunday and we spent the Saturday Junior sessions preparing for it.
Our superb Pro team, Stewart MacGregor and David Wilton, got the various groups thinking about how to get the most out of their golf under competition pressure and the results became apparent the next day!
We had 29 Juniors taking part today in three different competitions. The weather turned pretty cold and constantly threatened rain but none of our juniors was put off by that and there was some very impressive golf.
Connor Napleton won his third Junior title (a record at MHGC) with Hayden Salt finishing second and Alex Barnham taking third to edge Anton Blaubach out of a podium place.
The McNamara family had plenty to celebrate with Ethan McNamara taking the Nett prize from his brother Conor McNamara by a single point.
Lucy Strnadova won the 9 hole Stableford with Oscar Hills finishing a close second and Matan Michaels taking third spot, again by the narrowest of margins.
And in the Academy Course group we had a three way tie for first between Rollo Butler-Brown - whose new clubs must have earned their keep today! - Matthew Dean and Daniel Papaleontiou. Daniel won on countback with a very strong finish.
Thank you to all the juniors who took part and to the parents and the staff of Muswell Hill Golf Club who helped out.
The winners were announced by the club chairman, David Edwards and the Men's captain, Phil Matthews to lend a little extra gravitas to the proceedings.
I'd also like to make a special point to thank Bill Carey, Noreen Mullins, Ben Thomson, Samantha Kang and Hayden Salt for their help this weekend. Their assistance made it a really enjoyable day for everyone involved.
