Muswell Hill Men’s Section consists of over five hundred playing members.
Competitions and Roll Ups
There are regular monthly and quarterly medal competitions at the weekends and a range of other individual and team competitions throughout the year. Our weekly roll ups prove to be ever popular. Taking place every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday they provide members the opportunity to play without the need for prior booking.
The well attended Wednesday roll up is ideal for those who fancy 9 holes after work. Running from 5pm to 7pm over the summer months, it counts as a qualifying competition thus giving you the chance to secure or reduce your handicap whilst meeting other members with similar intent.
If you prefer to play a full round of 18 holes, the popular daytime Thursday roll up runs throughout the year and sets you up perfectly for some refreshment in the bar afterwards! The 'Sunday Swindle' is a team, four ball, better ball format which also provides an excellent opportunity to play with other members. Checking-in starts at 8am.
The Club fields a team in all the major Middlesex competitions: Tigers (handicap 3 and above); Sabres (handicap 6-12); Foxes (handicap 12-20) and Rabbits (handicap 20+); the Rowse Trophy and the President’s Foursomes (scratch competitions).
There is also the Thornton Cup (Essex County Competition) for the scratch team and an all London team competition – the Felmingham Trophy – for the over 60s.
There are a range of social events in the clubhouse. Some are linked to competitions such as the very popular Cross-Country, or the keenly fought Ireland vs Rest of the World. Some are linked to festive occasions, or to charity events, and some are pure social evenings such as Quiz Nights and Gourmet Evenings.
