Unquestionably the most accomplished golfer produced by the Club in its 135-year history. Tara has been our women’s club champion 5 times and Middlesex women’s county champion 5 times. Her most outstanding year to date was 2010 when she represented England in the Women’s Home Internationals at Whitchurch GC in Wales. She was runner up in the English Women’s Championship in 2009 & 2010 and captained a winning England team in the Nations Cup at Hoosegow in France. She won the Hampshire Rose at North Hants in 2011 and holds the women’s course record at Muswell Hill with a 66.
A member of Muswell Hill from age 13 until his untimely death in 2023. JP was a renowned golfer at the club and was club champion twice. After caddying for the Ryder Cup player Peter Butler in 1975 it was suggested that he become an understudy to the European Tours two tournament referees and the rest, as they say is history. He became one of the most celebrated and respected rules officials in professional golf worldwide and a much-loved administrator. He was well-known by the world’s leading players and had a significant impact on the sport in an illustrious career spanning over 40 years as a senior official with the DP World Tour (formerly European Tour). He also played his part with The R&A in the evolution of the Rules of Golf and the way they are taught to golfers across the globe, as well as assisting the refereeing team at The Open on an annual basis.
The great South African professional won the Open Championship in 1949, 1950 & 1957 and was a regular visitor to Muswell Hill during that period. He would play with his good friend and prominent member of the time Hector Macdonald either en-route to the championship or after winning it!
